My opinion on... Gone Girl.

One hobby that I have been trying to get back into is reading.
There was a moment a couple years ago where I was reading a lot.
I was reading through so many books and then I stopped.
Life got busy and I forgot how much I loved reading.

I had heard a lot of buzz about the book Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
So many people were talking about it all of a sudden. Everyone I knew were talking about it and then I heard that there was a movie about it coming out.

After watching The Maze Runner at the cinemas with a few friends and seeing the trailer for Gone Girl I knew I had to buy the book.
This style of book is so unlike the type of books I usually read.
I usually reach for fantasy books such as Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Enders Game, etc.
I wasn't sure if I would enjoy Gone Girl as it isn't fantasy.

I started reading the book the night I bought it.
I found the beginning of the book a bit slow to get into and it took me a few days to really get hooked.
But once I got hooked I found it hard to put down.
I read every night before sleeping, I took on the train to read on my way to and from uni. I took it to work with me so that I could read it on my short lunch break.

I won't say any details about the book in case you want to read it.
I really enjoyed the book, there was suspenseful moment and moments when I actually laughed out loud. There was definitely times where the plot went a different way to what you may have expected it to go.
I enjoyed some of the twists in the book.

I had heard mixed reviews about the ending of the book, some hated the ending, others happy with the ending.
Personally I didn't like the ending.
I felt the book was leading up to a bigger, defining, amazing ending maybe with a sudden twist but no... It just ended...
I was a bit let down with how it ended.

Apart from the ending I really enjoyed reading the book. It has opened me up to a totally different genre that i never thought of reading before. I think I might look into more books in the thriller genre.

I am excited to see the movie which was written by Gillian Flynn the author of the book. I have heard really great reviews of the movie and have heard that Flynn changed the ending for the movie... for the better.

The next book that I have already started reading is Bossypants by Tina Fey.
Which is again a totally different genre of book that I am used to.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my thoughts on the book Gone Girl.

The Color Run

At the end of August my friend and I entered the color run.
The night before the run I felt nervous and thought I had made a mistake as I am not the fittest person and was worried that I may not be able to do 5kms. It didn't take long to realise that those thoughts were ridiculous. The journey into the city, although very early, was fun as at each train stop more and more color runners joined the train. Once we got to the event there was such a good vibe with music playing and people chatting.
We got our much needed cup of coffee before the race to energise us and get ourselves more pumped for the run.

The actual running part of the fun run was nothing to worry about as there were plenty of people walking and even dancing their way through the track. My friend and I did run a lot of the way, it was surprising how fast it went by as we were having so much fun while running it didn't seem so bad.

The festival afterwards was fun as everyone was in such high spirits, congratulating everyone and dancing to the music that was blasting.
I'm so happy that I pushed myself to do the color run and can not wait till it comes back to Sydney.

Here are a few pics from the day.

Before shot.

At the start line - look at all the people!

Heading towards the foam.

In the bubbles.

More bubbles!!

This was taken after a huge colour throw in the crowd at the festival after the run.

After shot.

So many colourful people.

We couldn't stop smiling - happiest 5K on the planet!

Someone brought their dogs. I couldn't help but ask to take a photo of them.

And to celebrate we bought cronuts.

I had the best time doing the color run. If you ever get a chance to do it, then DO IT!!

Gloomy Beach Day

It seems I only really post photos of the beach.
But I find the beach such a lovely place to take photos.
Today was a very gloomy day in Manly which I find perfect weather for coffee with a friend!
As I was walking towards the cafe I could not help myself and had to snap some pictures of Manly beach.

Freshwater Beach

A couple weeks ago I went to Freshwater beach with a friend and took a few photos of the beach.
It's still winter in Australia and in the morning it was raining and very overcast so I thought it may be a good chance to take some photos with overcast lighting.
Then all of a sudden the clouds disappeared and the sun came out so instead of overcast lighting I got very sunny lighting. Either way Freshwater beach is beautiful.

Baby Shower

On the weekend I went to my cousin's baby shower. It was an amazing afternoon spent catching up with family while eating delicious food (some would say too much food... but I wouldn't).
I got to meet new people but most importantly I got to meet my other cousin's new baby of 3 and a half months old. She was so adorable and spent most of the afternoon with me hehe.
We spent the afternoon chatting and catching up and then it was time for some games.
The first game was to look at a line of baby photos and guess who they were. The photos belonged to the parents of the baby, the grandparents and the aunties and uncles of the baby. I got one correct... oops.
The next game was to guess how big the mum-to-be's belly was with a piece of string. I again did not get anywhere close to the correct size, I went way too big... Double oops!

Game where we had to guess whose baby picture matched who.

Overall it was a lovely day spent with family and meeting new people.

South Melbourne Markets

I love going to markets, wether they are craft markets, farmers markets or clothes markets. I just love exploring and seeing homemade things and homegrown things. So one of the things I really wanted to do while in Melbourne was to go to a market. On the Sunday that I was in Melbourne I went to the South Melbourne markets. There was so many different things in these markets. There was a super cool store with handmade cushions, funky cards and so much more. There was a store with candles and beach theme decorations and then there was so many lovely stores with fresh fruit and veg and flowers. There were stores with cheese and pastries... om nom nommm.

After walking up and down the markets we went outside of the markets where there was lots of little restaurants and market food. We stopped at a Mexican restaurant for some brunch. I started my meal with some fruit yogurt and granola balls, which I know is strange to get at a Mexican place but it was soo tasty! I then had some delicious quesadillas.

After stuffing our stomachs with delicious food we continued to explore the wonderful markets.

Gorgeous handmade cushions.

*drools*
How good do these look?! I wanted to eat them all!

Beautiful market flowers.

The delicious yogurt, fruit and granola balls.
It was a bit awkward to eat the granola balls as they were stuck hard but was well worth the awkwardness, so tasty!

Big artwork on a wall in the markets.

Saturday Catch-ups

Last week I met up with my friend Lucy that I hadn't seen for a while.
Lucy also has a camera and likes to take photos too so this catch up was a perfect opportunity to take my new camera out for it's first excursion!

We went to breakfast in Manly at Belgrave Cartel and it was AH-MAZING!!!
We then went through the markets in Manly towards the beach. There was a stand with lots of lovely smelling candles and cute cushions.

After hanging out in Manly, Lucy and I went to the caffe Cruise Espresso in Freshwater.
I got a Belgium mocha and a dark chocolate mint power ball, which was a great combination!
Next we headed back to the beach where we took a few more photos and sat on a bench and chatted while watching the world go by.
